When I say this is my go to post-workout snack, I mean it. I make this A LOT! It feels like I’m eating the most decadent and indulgent treat, but the best part is, that isn’t even close to true!
I have this protein frosty on two different occasions:
1. After a really great run or HIIT session
2. On a weeknight when I’m craving dessert
It tastes like a mocha milkshake, and part of the reason for that is because I use such a great tasting protein powder. There are good and bad protein powders, and I’ve tried a ton of them. Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein is my absolute favorite, and I always have the the Mocha Cappuccino flavor on hand.
It tastes AMAZING, and check out this nutrition label:
24 grams of protein!!! And only 2 grams of sugar and 3 grams of carbs. Nothing that good for you should taste so decadent, but it does, and I love it!
So, to make the ultimate Post-Workout Protein Frosty, add 2 cups of ice, 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/2 cup cold brew coffee, 1/2 frozen banana, and 1 rounded scoop of protein powder to a blender, and blend on high until smooth. If you want to know an easy way to make cold brew coffee at home, check out my post on the best french press cold brew. It’s so easy and so yummy!
Always add the other ingredients before the protein powder or the powder will get stuck to the bottom of the blender. Also, when I eat this for dessert in the evenings, I substitute and extra 1/2 cup of almond milk for the cold brew coffee so I’m not up all night!
Try this after your next workout and let me know what you think!
